Sunshine Coast Wanderers and FQPL FAQ’s

What is the FQPL?

From 2018, PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland will expand from 12 to 14 teams and will be underpinned by the 14-team Football Queensland Premier League (FQPL). Seven regional centres are represented in the restructuring, which brings with it the added excitement of promotion and relegation as determined by the combined tally of Senior, Youth (U20s) and U18s points.

What teams make up the FQPL?

There are 14 teams that make up the FQPL. They are Sunshine Coast Wanderers, Gold Coast Galaxy, Southside Eagles, Peninsula Power, Mitchelton FC, Wide Bay, Wolves FC, Souths United, Logan Lightning, Ipswich Knights, Rochedale Rovers, Gold Coast Athletic, Eastern Suburbs and Holland Park Hawks.

What ages will FQPL cover?

Sunshine Coast Wanderers will field teams for Junior Boys in the under 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 age groups in addition to under 20's and Senior Men.

Will the Sunshine Coast Wanderers have women’s teams?

The FQPL does not have women's football teams. The Sunshine Coast Wanderers however will be applying for inclusion of Junior Girls and Senior Women's team in the WNPL competition.

How can I support the Sunshine Coast Wanderers?

Support for the new Sunshine Coast Wanderers can be provided in many ways, from volunteering, through to sponsorship opportunities and donations. Most of all you can get on board and support the teams and when the season starts, come along and show your support.

Please contact Sunshine Coast Wanderers Football Club via email at secretary@SCWFC.com.au if you feel you have the capacity to help.

When and how can I trial to be selected for the Sunshine Coast Wanderers squad?

Sunshine Coast Wanderers are currently planning for all aspects of the 2018 FQPL season with trials expected to commence in October 2017.

I currently play for another club that is not Buderim Wanderers FC. Can I trial for the Sunshine Coast Wanderers and what happens if I am not selected?

For the Sunshine Coast Wanderers and football on the Sunshine Coast to be a success, we need to attract the best players, coaches and football minded people on the Coast and players from all Sunshine Coast clubs are encouraged to trial. Should you not be successful in being selected as part of the 2018 season for the Sunshine Coast Wanderers we encourage you to return to your local club, to enjoy your football and develop your skills and we hope that you return to trial again for the following season.

Can I apply to become a coach for the Sunshine Coast Wanderers?

If you are interested in being involved as a coach, assistant coach or manager, the Sunshine Coast Wanderers are seeking expressions of interest for the following teams:

• Under 13 Boys
• Under 14 Boys
• Under 15 Boys
• Under 16 Boys
• Under 18 Boys
• Under 20 Boys
• Senior Men

Expressions of interest to be emailed to doc@SCWFC.com.au. Please include your credentials and current licence accreditation in a detailed resume. We aim to name the coaching staff as soon as possible in preparation for 2018.

How much will the registration fees be?

The club is working through the costs associated with the 2018 season. The aim is to have registration fees set at a competitive level that will also allow Sunshine Coast Wanderers to field competitive teams. Registration costs will be advertised on the Sunshine Coast Wanderers website when they have been finalised

How will this affect the Buderim Wanderers FC in the local Sunshine Coast Football competitions? Will there still be Miniroos teams all the way through to senior football?

Buderim Wanderers FC will continue as the strong club that it is, nurturing Miniroo and Junior players through to Senior level. Players will still be able to register and play for Buderim Wanderers FC as they do now from as young as under 6.

Will the registration cost to Buderim Wanderers FC players be affected by the gaining of the QPL licence?

NO. Sunshine Coast Wanderers will have its own registration fees that will support Sunshine Coast Wanderers. No revenue from registration fees paid for by members playing for Buderim Wanderers FC will be used to fund Sunshine Coast Wanderers. The facility and maintenance costs for our home ground will be shared equitably by both clubs.

How far within Queensland will teams need to travel?

The 14 teams that make up the FQPL range from Wide Bay to the north to the Gold Coast in the South. There are several teams located in the greater Brisbane region. Travel for away games should be contained to these areas.
