Welcome to the Your SSF Hub.

Here is what you need to know.
Why the kids play!
Kids just want to have Fun. So let them play, let the kids make their decisions on the field and let the game be the teacher.
Where they play?
This Hub is made up with the Great Clubs of Buderim Wanderers, Kawana Force SC. Grammer Lions and Matthew Flinders.
What time do the kids play?
Please ensure your team is ready to start the game at the indicated time on the Draw. Being there twenty minutes before your child's game gives the team plenty of time to get organised.
Do we play during the Holidays?
There are no games on the weekends due to School Holidays.
Are there any Carnivals for SSF?
Carnivals with other Hubs are to be held on the weekends later this year. These events are organised by Sunshine Coast Football. Information regarding these will come through your manager.
What if it Rains?
Check the clubs website you are playing at, if they don't have the details posted, then check www.bwfc.com.au as we will endeavour to post all cancellations on the site by 7:30am of game day.
Rules for Small Sided Football.
The Small sided football link on the top left hand side of this page, takes you to the official guides from Football Australia. Please inform yourself whether you are a parent or coach. But remember it is all about the kids.

HELPFUL HINTS for PARENTS

  • Regularly check our website www.bwfc.com.au for the latest updates, news, wet weather conditions and times of play and field allocations.
  • Some people use this website as their home page on their computer at home.
  • Always keep the lines of communications open. Each team will have a coach and manager. It seems that emailing and texting are easy ways of doing this.
  • For insurance purposes all players must wear shin pads and appropriate footwear. Football boots recommended.
  • Always bring a water bottle and wear sun cream.
  • Your coach will let you know the training times and the field that the team will be training on.
  • Each team needs to nominate a manager.

GUIDELINES for PARENTS

  • When players agree to play for a team at an age level the player owes primary allegiance to that team. They must always initially fulfil their obligations to their allotted team. Playing for other teams may only be done when the primary commitments have been met with their main team.
  • Parents accept that the score of the game is secondary. The primary focus is on teaching young players to play with a style that focuses on ball mastery and ball possession. Players should never be encouraged to boot the ball out of play or long in a meaningless way and instead should focus on developing ball skills and ball mastery.
  • Coaches are in charge of the players from the period 15 minutes before the game to a period 10 minutes after its completion. Parents are to respect this and not interfere with the coaches' duties or offer instructions to the players.
  • Parents should not coach from the sidelines
  • Parents should not criticise players, coaches or game officials.
  • Players should have lots of fluids to drink during the game and should have eaten something solid about one hour before playing.
  • BWFC is committed to improve the skills and football abilities of every player and does not regard the score of the game as the primary focus.
  • Children just want to have fun. Putting them under pressure to perform and win is not in the nature of young children.
  • Do not criticise your child if they make a mistake. The coach will handle this in a positive and constructive way.
  • Always look for and talk about the positive things that your child did in the game. This is a great way of building their self esteem.

Buderim Wanderers Player Development Program 2012 (U6 to U11)

Buderim Wanderers is a community club and welcomes any player of any ability to come and enjoy their football with us.  It is also important that we have a way to identify talent and help talented players develop the right skills, technique and attitude.

Last year we started a development program at Buderim Wanderers for our younger players. Following its success, we will be continuing this in the 2012 season.

The focus of our Development Program is on developing technical skills and functional game skills, whilst having fun and learning.  It provides a structure and pathway that allows players to improve in the right areas (using FFAs National Curriculum) as they progress through each year group.

As an example from last year, the U10 and U11Development Squads:
•    Trained twice a week, every week, as well as their usual Saturday game
•    Played numerous extra games against other clubs with Development squads to ‘extend’ them further. Examples:
o    North Star F.C (Brisbane)
o    Olympic F.C (Brisbane)
o    Pine Rivers United F.C
o    Loganholme F.C
•    Played in extra Development Carnivals, against strong development teams (including Sunshine Coast Development team and Toowoomba)
•    Increased learning by playing in the same team with other stronger technical players, and learning how to play as a team.

Here’s how it will operate in 2012...
The program differs at each age group, to meet the needs of the developing players.

U6 and U7 (dob 2005 and 2006)
•    Development Squads not necessary
•    Players should be learning to love the game – emphasis on fun
•    Learning environment created and ‘natural’ development will happen through playing football
•    One team training session and one game is enough at these age levels.

U8 Development Squad (dob 2004)
•    1st age group where Development Squad is formed
•    Players will train once a week and play Saturday games in a regular / mixed-ability team, but will have an extra training session led by the U8 Development Coach
•    So Development Squad will train twice a week (once with their regular team and once with the U8 Dev Squad)
•    No strong selection criteria for U8 Development Squad – Coaches / Parents can choose to join if they believe player is showing potential

U9 Development Squad (dob 2003)
•    Players will train once a week and play Saturday games in a regular / mixed-ability team, but will have an extra training session led by the U9 Development Coach
•    So Development Squad will train twice a week (once with their regular team and once with the Dev Squad)
•    Players selected based on their emerging talent / technical skills
•    Extra developmental games will be arranged during the season against other clubs with development squads

U10 Development Squad and U10 Development Team (dob 2002)
•    Development Squad selected based on technical ability
•    From the Dev Squad a Dev team selected that will play together on Saturdays during the season
•    Development team to play in the stronger division – to provide best available extension
•    Development Squad will train twice a week together, led by the U10 Development Coach
•    Team membership can be reviewed during the season – opportunities for players to move in / out  of development team
•    Extra Development games / carnivals arranged during the season against other clubs with development squads

U11 Development Squad and U11 Development Team (dob 2001)
•    Development Squad selected based on technical ability
•    From the Dev Squad a Dev team selected that will play together on Saturdays during the season
•    Development team to play in the stronger division – to provide best available extension
•    Development Squad will train twice a week together, led by the U11 Development Coach
•    Team membership reviewed throughout season – opportunities for players to move in / out  of development team
•    Extra Development games / carnivals arranged during the season against other clubs with development squads

Coaches / Managers
All coaches (and team managers) are volunteers – their effort and commitment to assist our players enjoy their football is appreciated.
We encourage all our coaches and team managers to benefit from the available qualifications, courses and certificates, run by Sunshine Coast Football / Football Queensland.
However, all Development Coaches are expected to have Grass Roots Certificate and their Junior Licence in order to coach a development squad.
Team Coaches names are yet to be determined for 2012.
Next steps
Pre-season training / trials will be held shortly. Dates and times will be on the website and emailed to last year’s players where possible.

If you are interested in your child joining a Development squad, then please indicate this when registering or email the club.  Please note that they will need to be available to train twice a week.
